The short explanation of this alert was:

Please take one minute to add your personal comments to the letter below and join thousands of North Carolinians who are contacting their state legislators in support of Clean Energy for North Carolina.

North Carolina currently depends on out-of-state and foreign energy imports (oil, coal, natural gas and uranium) that cost us between $10 billion and $15 billion per year. Experts expect the price of energy from fossil fuels to continue to rise as our population grows. Big power companies propose to meet the growing demand for energy by building new polluting power plants even though we can meet our energy demands through energy efficiency.

S. 2051, The Energy Independence Act puts our state on the path to a clean and affordable energy future by improving energy efficiency in transportation, state government buildings, and residential housing. This bill will provide millions of dollars in energy savings to consumers as well as the state and municipal government.

Urge your member of the NC House of Representatives to meet our state's growing energy demands through energy efficiency not new polluting power plants by supporting The Energy Independence Act.
