NC Conservation Network.
The short explanation of this alert was:
Currently NC has no official program to alert well users who live near many areas of contamination and the state is not providing assistance in testing those wells.
Fortunately, there’s a solution, and it doesn’t cost much. S.1547 /H.2186, Private Drinking Water Wells/ Local Well Programs would provide funding to notify residents and provide free testing of wells around the worst known contamination sites. This bill would also establish funding for the state to provide water treatment or water hookups to users whose wells are found to be contaminated.
As a part of Clean Water Lobby Day hundreds of concerned citizens from across NC will be asking our state legislature to keep our families safe and informed by protecting private drinking water well.
Please join them in taking action by editing the letter below with your own personal story or views and ask your elected officials to support this very important legislation.
