The short explanation of this alert was:
A big opportunity is at hand this week for North Carolina to do its part to address global warming. In the next 24 hours, Senator Albertson will be introducing legislation to reduce the pollution that causes global warming. If passed, this legislation would constitute the first major step by any Southeastern state to address global warming.
The stakes of global warming are just too high to delay action. From the mountains to the coast, North Carolina will likely experience a range of adverse impacts in a warming world. These include stronger hurricanes, sea-level rise that could drastically alter the state’s coastline, and the spread of tropical diseases.
The good news is that there are cost-effective options NC can pursue to reduce its emissions of global warming pollution and thereby address this challenge. Setting a goal to reduce the pollution that causes global warming will put North Carolina on a winning path to be prepared for the impacts of a warmer world. It will also allow our state to capitalize on economic opportunities that are arising as other nations and states demonstrate leadership on global warming.
Contact your State Senator now and ask them to co-sponsor this vital global warming pollution reduction goal with Senator Albertson!
Please ACT NOW the deadline for co-sponsorship is today, March 23rd at 3pm!
