Send the message below to your legislators and urge them to support House Bill 1050. This legislation would create an independent (non-utility), non-profit organization to promote energy efficiency programs in North Carolina. The bill has three main goals: (1) promote energy efficiency programs to cut greenhouse gas emissions; (2) cut electric bills, especially for low/moderate income families; and (3) promote the creation of green jobs.

The independent, “for public benefit” organization would fund efficiency programs across North Carolina through a small surcharge on electric and natural gas bills (averaging $2/month). This general model is working well in several other states already! Take action today and tell your legislators to support H1050.
