More than 3,300 miles of North Carolina's rivers and streams do not meet water quality standards. Every year 100,000 acres of irreplaceable natural areas, family farms, game lands, forests, and historic places are lost to development in North Carolina. Given our population growth, there is a very narrow window of opportunity to make the investments necessary to protect our critical natural and economic resources.
