Stand up and demonstrate the need for a smart energy future on the National Day of Action to Stop Global Warming! Join us for an afternoon of learning, kid's activities, music, and action on the grounds of North Carolina's State Capitol! You will hear from a wide range of speakers including:
* Carlos Velazquez, an Otomi Indian, who traveled to the villages in the Arctic Circle to meet with the Inuit people and see first-hand the impact of global warming on their way of life.
* Dr. Bill Schlesinger, Dean of Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment, who will share the current science on global warming.
* Sally Beth Shore, Climate Project trainee and student minister, will speak from the faith perspective.
Rally speakers will also include children speaking out with their thoughts on global warming, and elected officials. Kids will learn how to help stop global warming through numerous activities including: Sylvio the Storyteller with interactive stories for kids about global warming, games from the Arctic Olympics, and temporary tattoo's.
Big Fat Gap, a great North Carolina bluegrass band, will entertain and the Raging Grannies will be on hand to sing songs about global warming!
North Carolina will face drastic changes if the Earth continues to warm rapidly from global warming pollution.
